Still here. Still cooking. Just in a new home.

If you’ve been a Pippies regular over the years, first of all, thank you. Genuinely. You’re the reason we’re still doing this.

After more than 20 years at Flagstaff Hill in Warrnambool, we had to close our doors there in April 2024. It was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do. That restaurant was our life, and saying goodbye to it and to so many of you was heartbreaking.

But we weren’t done.

A fresh start in Port Fairy

In October 2025, Pippies by the Bay opened again, this time at 1/32 Bank Street in Port Fairy. Same name. Same David in the kitchen. Same Mandy making sure everything runs smoothly and everyone feels at home.

Port Fairy has been so welcoming to us, and we’ve absolutely fallen in love with the town. The produce here is incredible. We’re using locally farmed abalone, the freshest seafood we can find, and the best of what’s growing nearby each season.

The menu has some of your old favourites (yes, the scallops with cauliflower puree are back) along with some new dishes David’s been excited to try.

Pippies is not closed — we’ve moved to Port Fairy

We know some online listings still show our old address, and some even say we’re permanently closed. We’re not. We’re very much open and cooking, just in a new location.

A bit about us

Pippies by the Bay is proudly family owned and run by us, David and Mandy.

David has been a chef at Pippies for more than 20 years, so it’s fair to say this place means a lot to him. He’s the kind of cook who genuinely cares about every plate that leaves the kitchen, not just because it’s his job, but because he loves what he does.

Mandy is the friendly face helping keep everything running smoothly, making sure guests feel welcome, comfortable and looked after from the moment they arrive. She’s also probably a big part of the reason so many people keep coming back.

Together, we’ve built Pippies around the things we love most: good food, warm service and making people feel at home. We’re not a chain and we’re not a franchise. We’re just a local Port Fairy family who loves sharing good food, good company and a relaxed dining experience by the bay.
